The Beatles in Stereo Box Set was made available in September of ‘09 it immediately became the standard for The Beatles classic albums.
These stereo versions sound far superior to the old discs from the’80s. When comparing the remastered CDs to the older CDs it’s like the old discs are under a pile of wet blankets while the new discs sound warm and clear so that all of the instrumentation and vocals push through the mix instead of being muffled.
The Beatles in Stereo Remastered CD Box Set isn’t the only box set by The Beatles that came out in September of ‘09 but it is the most popular since it can be enjoyed by the widest range of fans. The Remastered Beatles Mono Box Set is great too but it appeals mostly to hardcore fans who want to listen to the’60s mono mixes (and compare them to the stereo mixes) than to the average Beatles fan. While I will agree with the “purists” that there are some songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (particularly quite a few of the pre Magical Mystery Tour recordings in my opinion) overall I think the stereo set does sound the best.
The fantastic thing about The Beatles Stereo Remastered CD Box Set is that it allows you to buy The Beatles entire’62-1970 discography with just one order and considering the extremely high quality of most of their CDs, it makes the most sense to buy al of the albums at one time instead of buying some and going back for the rest later.
Along with the fantastic genre defining music included in this box set there are some groovy visual elements, the- mini documentary (for each studio album) DVD is the most obvious. Along with this 50 minute DVD there are extended liner notes for every album (there is some good information in these notes, especially for fans that are new to The Beatles) and some great unpublished pictures.
I’m such a huge Beatles fanatic that I have purchased (or I plan on getting) The Beatles in Stereo Box, The Beatles in Mono Set, The Beatles USB Memory Stick, and The Beatles Rock Band Video Game. But if I had to choose only one of these things, it would be the comprehensive stereo set because it’s the best representation of The Beatles music and of course, it’s their groundbreaking music that made them the most popular band ever.
David Quincy Jackson thinks that you should Buy The Beatles in Stereo Box Set because it sounds amazing. He also strongly recommends picking up The Beatles Mono Box Set for a complete Beatles collection.
