If you’re going to watch Sex And The City to try to figure out exactly what “style” the main character, Carrie Bradshaw, is, then forget it. Carrie has no set “Style” and you’ll just drive yourself insane. As the most fashion-forward member of the group, Carrie’s closet contains an eclectic mix of vintage, retro, Gap and haute couture. The mix is quite outrageous and extremely fun! Featuring Manolos almost constantly, Carrie also offers up a different signature fashion statement every season. Beginning with her nameplate necklace in season 1 and continuing on with flower pins, Fendi bags, gloves, hats…..
One of Carrie’s dearest friends, Samantha Jones is a high-powered PR executive by day – wearing beautiful, designer suits of vivid colors with figure hugging styles. In the evening, though, watch out as Sam changes into her TRUE colors to show the vixen that she really is!
Another of Carrie’s dear friends, Miranda Hobbes, chooses to dress a little more professionally during the day. As an attorney, her position calls for smart, dark suits, and she wears them very well. She prefers sneakers and sweats on the weekends but in the evening, watch out! This redhead is a real knockout!
And then there is Charlotte. Charlotte York, whose wardrobe reflects her Park Avenue lifestyle. All pastels and coordinated, with matching accessories. Her crisp, refreshing take on fashion often makes her appear prim and sometimes grim, but watch when the girls go to Atlantic City! She can haute it up with the best of them!
No discussion of Sex And The City would be complete without including some of the men. And who best to start with than Mr. Big? Even though we learn his first name in the final episode of the series, I’ll still always think of him as “Big”. Played by actor Chris Noth, we see Mr. Big in 3 outfits – a Black Armani suit, a Black limo, ….or a bed! Hmmmmm…which do you prefer?!
Steve Brady, Miranda’s beau and future husband, is every guy’s guy. Jeans and a T-shirt are all it takes to make this man happy. In fact, in one of the earlier episodes, Miranda has to buy him a suit! Nothing at all wrong with that, I say. He’s cute, he’s charming, he has beautiful blue eyes and he believes in monogamy. How many guys do YOU know that fit that description?
Harry! Poor Harry. He’s short, bald, hairy and has no social graces to speak of. But he’s an attorney and he wears his suits well….when he wears them. And he’s madly in love with Charlotte! Preferring to stroll around the apartment au natural, he does concede to Charlotte and don a pair of boxers in order to protect the white sofa.
And, finally, there’s Smith. Samantha’s man. Jerry Jerrod. As far as I’m concerned, this man is like the English Leather man…he can wear English Leather…or nothing at all! An aspiring actor when Sam meets him, she changes his name and uses a little of her PR magic to make him into one of the most sought after dishes in New York!
