Another reason for the higher selling prices for major brand TVs is that the producers invest in research and development to achieve ways of improving the present technology to enhance the performance of the Television. This doesnt take place with cheap unbranded televisions which have poorer features and performance. If you read specialist magazines like What Video or What Hifi you will see that main brand TVs get a lot better reviews than the unknown cheap TV brands.

Conclusion

The major brand TVs are better supported, better designed and they have more features and they perform better than the unbranded cheap Television brands. Once all of this is taken into consideration the main TV brands represent a cheaper alternative in the long run delivering more value and longer service than the unbranded cheap TV brands. The A. C. Nielsen Co., in doing its research has numbers saying the average American citizen, over a sixty five yr. Lifetime will spend slightly over nine years watching television. This translates to nearly twenty eight hours of watching per week and up a full two months per year in viewing! A simple indicator of our national obsession with them.

Households in the United States have the highest ownership rate on earth today per-capita. With numbers over ninety-nine percent owning a minimum one, and standing at an average of not quite three TV sets in each home. These sets are turned on, (if being watched or even not) for almost seven solid hours per day on average, and when the term couch potato is being used, it does not fall too far from base does it?

Fully sixty percent of the population in the United States can name all members of the Three Stooges comedy team, but only fifteen percent of that same sampling are able to name any three of the nine sitting Supreme Court Justices of the United States. The television has been developmental in this over time.

The television is a valuable tool of communication, learning, and development. The over use of it as a distraction is its greatest detriment and flaw. The public needs to be aware of and try to monitor its use in more productive and responsible manner.
